Description
Bottom rule

The CICS TG V9.2 open beta offering enables continuous integration testing for JSON web services and all types of remote CICS TG applications.

CICS TG is the premier IBM enterprise connector suite. It is production proven for over 1000 customers as a high-performing, security-rich, and scalable method of service-oriented architecture (SOA) access to CICS TS family and TXSeries products. It provides the following capabilities:

CICS TG products run on z/OS, Microsoft Windows, UNIX™, and Linux operating systems. They provide connectivity to CICS for JEE-certified application servers, as well as allow a wide range of application platforms to integrate with CICS. This includes JSON web services, Java applications, servlets, applets, Microsoft.NET Framework-based applications, C, and COBOL applications.

CICS TG supports common programming frameworks to allow a wide variety of application platforms to integrate securely with CICS. The Java Enterprise Edition Connector Architecture (JCA) provides the highest qualities of service (connection pooling, transaction management) for applications deployed to a JEE application server, such as WebSphere Application Server. Furthermore, the CICS TG API for Microsoft.NET Framework-based applications, C, COBOL, and Java applications allows Microsoft Windows, UNIX, and Linux platforms to exploit the robust and scalable connectivity available through CICS TG.

The CICS TG V9.2 open beta offering gives existing customers and those new to CICS TG, the opportunity to participate in a limited time trial of the latest developments for CICS TG, with no charge or financial commitment.

The new CICS TG Intercept plug-in allows selective pass-through to live CICS servers, or virtualized responses, when deploying a Gateway daemon to a customer's platform of choice. This offering also enables continuous integration testing for JSON web services and all remote CICS TG applications.

The open beta offering is available for z/OS, Linux Intel, and Microsoft Windows platforms, and includes the full functionality of CICS TG V9.1 in addition to the improved capabilities for virtualization of test CICS servers.

By enabling virtualized responses and allowing customers to choose the run-time platform for this test resource, it is possible to build a continuous integration test suite with zero-MIPs cost. This allows application developers to fail fast earlier in the development and test cycle, and before promoting new code to higher level quality assurance systems.

The CICS TG for z/OS V9.2 open beta offering requires the z/OS 1.13, or later, operating system and works with the 64-bit version of the IBM SDK for z/OS, Java Technology Edition, Version 7 Release 1. This level of the IBM SDK for z/OS offers:

This latest CICS TG beta offering also works with the 64-bit version of the IBM SDK for z/OS, Java Technology Edition, Version 8 Release 0 (Java 8). This level of the IBM SDK for z/OS delivers:

The CICS TG for Multiplatforms V9.2 open beta offering includes the IBM Runtime Environment, Java Technology Edition, Version 7 Release 1 for Linux on Intel, and Microsoft Windows operating systems. This release benefits from fundamental improvements to the JVM and JIT compiler.

The CICS TG V9.2 open beta offering supports current releases of the CICS Transaction Server family, and TXSeries for Multiplatforms products. Additionally, it supports the CICS TS V5.3 open beta offering.

The CICS TG open beta program

IBM beta programs for software allow customers to sign up for and acquire early releases of a product for the purposes of testing, before it is made commercially available. Open beta programs do not usually require customers to register before they take part in the program. Typically, product offerings provided by a beta program:

Details of the terms and conditions of the beta program are found in the supplied license files for the offering.

Participants in the beta program gain insight into IBM strategy and direction. They may also obtain earlier benefit and payback from any new function, may gain competitive edge, and the opportunity for public recognition as a technology leader. Participants are encouraged to provide feedback and articulate their own requirements to IBM, with the potential to help influence and shape future IBM products.

The CICS TG open beta program is focused on delivering successful, early implementations of CICS TG to all worldwide customers. It provides early access to new CICS technologies and code, along with education, support, examples, and samples.

An on-line forum is provided for discussion and debate. The CICS development team will attempt to answer any questions and resolve any problems that may be encountered in the beta. Participants can also benefit from other participants' experiences, becoming part of a group, with a close working relationship with IBM development.

The CICS TG V9.2 open beta offering is available for download directly from IBM, by visiting

http://www.ibm.com/software/htp/cics/openbeta/

To register your interest in the CICS TG V9.2 open beta program, contact the CICS Early Programs coordinator by email, at cicsep@uk.ibm.com.

IBM does not warrant that any version of the program that is formally released or made commercially available (if any) will be similar to, or compatible with, Early Release versions.

Statement of good security practices
Bottom rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
