Overview

Top rule

Organizations must ensure that only their intended employees, and not attackers, have access to enterprise applications in the cloud. With large scale data breaches and pervasive password reuse across sites, a password alone is not sufficient to secure enterprise applications. IBM Cloud Identity Verify, a new capability of the Cloud Identity Platform, allows organizations to use a second factor of authentication, when required, to verify the identity of users. Cloud Identity Verify is integrated with Cloud Identity Connect to provide a second authentication factor to users to access applications through Cloud Identity Connect.

With Cloud Identity Verify, an organization can choose whether to apply multi-factor authentication on specific sensitive applications or on all the applications that are included within the Cloud Identity Connect platform. This can help meet regulatory and compliance requirements that govern applications with sensitive data. Cloud Identity Verify also adds a consistent, multi-factor authentication policy across all applications, and can remove the fragmented approach of relying upon the multi-factor authentication capability, if any, that is supported by each application individually. This can provide employees a more consistent and familiar experience with authentication and makes it less likely for them to be the victim of social engineering style attacks that prey upon employee confusion at the variety of different authentication regimes across applications.

Statement of good security practices

Top rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through intrusion prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access.
