IBM® PowerHA® SystemMirror® for AIX®, the IBM Power Systems strategic solution for high availability, protects against most outage types, including software updates. It is the solution for mission-critical environments.
IBM PowerHA System Mirror, V7.2.2 for AIX introduces the following:
- Enhancements to the Health Management Dashboard UI. The PowerHA V7.2.2 UI extends the health monitoring capability to cluster managment for most common cluster operations, and includes a cluster deployment wizard, multitenant hosting management for cloud providers, and role-based security management.
- Advanced analytics for problem isolation, problem determination, and solution recommendation.
Overview |
PowerHA SystemMirror, V7.2.2 for AIX updates the version 7 family of products. Cluster Aware AIX was introduced with version 7.1, making PowerHA an integrated extension of AIX. Version 7.2.2 uses the same clustering foundation as PowerHA SystemMirror, V7.1 and supports an easy, nondisruptive upgrade from version 7.1 to version 7.2.2.
Key prerequisites |
PowerHA SystemMirror V7.2.2 supports:
- IBM POWER6® and later technology-based servers
- AIX 7.1 TL04, AIX 7.1 TL05, AIX 7.2, AIX 7.2 TL01, and AIX 7.2 TL02 operating systems
The PowerHA V7.2.2 features that are supported vary by AIX release and Power Systems type. See the release notes of PowerHA SystemMirror V7.2 and V7.2 TL02 for more details.

Description |
PowerHA SystemMirror, V7.2.2 for AIX enhancements include:
- Additional functions provided by the Health Management Dashboard UI. The UI, which initially offered at-a-glance health monitoring for one or many clusters, has been significantly enhanced to provide cluster management functions such as:
- Start/stop cluster and move Resource Group (RG), as well as a deployment wizard. PowerHA V7.2.2 is ready for the cloud, providing the capability to set up cluster zones complete with access authority management and audit tracking.
- Support for role-based user administration. Now administrators can be assigned roles to manage different aspects of a cluster.
- Cloud-enabled multiclient cluster administration, deployed via cluster zones. Administrators can group clusters based on different clients or departments and administer them securely.
- An advanced log analytics tool. PowerHA V7.2.2 features "push button" cluster-wide log analysis, providing a summary of the problem as well as the associated log events and a recommendation for problem resolution. Log files can be analyzed on a live cluster or a failed cluster. The logs can also be shipped to IBM for analysis. The tool processes log files across the nodes in the cluster and enables analysis based on user-specified patterns (symptoms), time windows, and other factors.
- An easy update roll back feature. PowerHA SystemMirror, V7.2.1 introduced an easy update tool to enable updates to the high availability (HA) software stack across the nodes in the cluster. With V7.2.2, not only can administrators choose to apply updates to one node or all nodes in the cluster with a simple command, but they can also roll back updates and revert back to the earlier version of the HA stack, if needed, after the update.
