Description
Bottom rule

IBM Case Foundation is for organizations that need to harness their unstructured information and integrate it with business processes, reduce cost of operations, and proactively address changing business conditions. This new release provides for reduced complexity and simplified deployment.

Event log scaling: The process event log table's 2 billion row limitation is eliminated by providing a 64-bit sequence number. This virtually eliminates reaching the sequence number limit and causing process to stop. The APIs are modified to accommodate the 64-bit sequence number. It is still a best practice to regularly prune your event log.

Case insensitive searching: Process queries for queues such as in-basket, rosters, and event logs previously only supported case insensitive search when using Microsoft™ SQL Server. Case Foundation now provides case insensitive searching for all databases, reducing complexity in applications where case insensitive searching is desired.

Simplified deployment: IBM FileNet Deployment Manager supports the Case Foundation assets currently supported by Process Configuration Console (PCC). This reduces the number of tools required to deploy Case Foundation applications to different environments.

Reduced dependency on IBM FileNet Workplace XT: For users who are moving to IBM Content Navigator for their user experience, the Process Designer applet is available as a plug-in so that it may be invoked from Content Navigator instead of FileNet Workplace XT. Process Designer continues to be available from FileNet Workplace XT.

IBM Case Foundation V5.2.1 includes the following:

Additional bundled IBM software components with limited use license terms:

Case Foundation V5.2.1 offers increased data protection, scalability, and performance for all its database intensive operations which, based on IBM DB2 technology, is designed to manage data more effectively and efficiently. Greater availability is delivered through enhancements such as online, automated database reorganization. In addition, the increased scalability and the ability to leverage the latest in server technology helps deliver increased performance of backup and recovery processes.

IBM Case Foundation Starter Pack is also available and is designed to help you to implement Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions more cost effectively. This full-featured ECM product provides you with ready-to-use enterprise capabilities in tiered user license configurations for smaller and departmental deployments.

The ECM Starter Pack portfolio consists of five offerings:

Reminder: IBM FileNet Business Process Framework and ECM Widgets were withdrawn from IBM Case Foundation V5.2.0 bundle in March of 2013. Refer to Software Announcement AP13-0037, dated March 12, 2013.

Statement of good security practices
Bottom rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
