Overview

On September 9, 2020, IBM® will begin a new process for starting the warranty period on new IBM hardware sales.

Once implemented, the warranty period for machines that require IBM installation will commence upon the earlier of

  • The calendar day following the completion of the installation by IBM, or 45 days following shipment from IBM for all countries within the Europe Integrated Operating Teams (IOT) (excluding Russia and the rest of the countries listed below)
  • The calendar day following the completion of the installation by IBM, or 60 days following shipment from IBM for all countries within the Middle East and Africa IOT
  • The calendar day following the completion of the installation by IBM, or 75 days following shipment from IBM for Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan

Once implemented, the warranty period for customer set up (CSU) machines will commence upon the earlier of

  • Two calendar days after delivery to IBM's end client by IBM's common carrier, or two calendar days after the delivery of the machine for Austria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, Iceland, Israel, and Slovakia
  • Two calendar days after delivery to IBM's end client by IBM's common carrier, or two calendar days after the standard transit allowance period from the last IBM location for other countries

For actual implementation dates within your country, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner.

While this change does not affect the warranty duration of a machine, it may affect the billing and terms of IBM services and other offerings that are related to a machine.
