IBM® intends to deliver Managed-from-Z, a new feature of IBM Cloud™ Private for Linux® on IBM Z®. The Managed-from-Z feature will provide the flexibility for clients to run and manage IBM Cloud Private applications from IBM Linux on Z and LinuxONE platforms. The new capability will further the IBM commitment to deliver multi-cloud and multi-architecture cloud-native technologies to clients on the platform of their choice, such as:

  • IBM Z amd LinuxOne
  • x86
  • Power®

IBM Cloud Private V3.1, announced in Software Announcement 218-441, dated September 11, 2018, is an integrated platform for developing and managing containerized applications. It:

  • Can be deployed behind firewalls and managed in flexible options, as the enterprise needs dictate.
  • Is built on open source frameworks. It contains:
    • A private image repository
    • A management console
    • Capability to monitor tools and a robust catalog of services
  • Is designed to address the modernization challenges of enterprises with business-critical applications that were developed in a monolithic, waterfall approach that cannot be used for innovation and modern application needs as required by the business.
  • Enables enterprises to unleash their development creativity, using industry-common technologies and process guidance, in a minimal time frame.
  • Includes operational management and DevOps capabilities that enable enterprises to securely manage and scale their critical workloads and apps on a private cloud environment on the infrastructure of their choice.
  • Enables enterprises to gain operations optimization, infrastructure access, development efficiencies, and speed to market, while continuing to abide by the regulations that are imposed for their industry, geographical region, and corporation.
