PowerHA SystemMirror, V7.2.1 SP1 for AIX updates the version 7 family of products. Cluster Aware AIX was introduced with version 7.1, making PowerHA an integrated extension of AIX. Version 7.2.1 uses the same clustering foundation as PowerHA SystemMirror, V7.1 and supports an easy, nondisruptive upgrade from version 7.1 to version 7.2.1.

Geographically Dispersed Resiliency Release 1.1 SP1 helps you to achieve your disaster recovery objectives. A number of enhancements have been made to simplify disaster recovery management for Power Systems. These enhancements introduce support for additional storage replication solutions and an additional guest operating system, broadening the offering's applicability to a wider range of client requirements.

Description
Bottom rule

PowerHA SystemMirror V7.2.1 SP1 for AIX offers:

  • An easy update tool: PowerHA SystemMirror introduces a tool to apply updates to the high availability (HA) software stack across the nodes in the cluster. Administrators can point the tool to an area where updates are stored (local directory or NIM server) and the tool will verify and apply the updates to various components of the HA stack such as cluster-aware AIX, RSCT, and PowerHA. Admininistrators can choose to apply updates to one node or all nodes in the cluster.
  • RESTful communication support: PowerHA can now be configured to use RESTful interfaces to communicate with HMC. This is an alternative method to SSH key-based communication. When the communication is setup, PowerHA capabilities that depend on HMC such as Resource Optimized High Availability (ROHA) and Active Node Halt Policy (ANHP) will be managed through the same HMC.
  • Health Dashboard support for older PowerHA releases: PowerHA SystemMirror 7.2.1 Health Dashboard graphical interface can now be configured to manage earlier PowerHA releases (7.1.3 and 7.2). Note that this requires the latest service packs on 7.1.3 and 7.2 from second quarter 2017.

Geographically Dispersed Resiliency V1.1 SP1 for Power Systems offers support for both synchronous and asynchronous replication of data through the IBM SAN Volume Controller and IBM Storwize family. It also supports asynchronous replication of data through the IBM DS8000 family and through EMC storage using Symmetrix Remote Data Facility (SRDF).

Geographically Dispersed Resiliency V1.1 SP1 for Power Systems also supports IBM i Guest Virtual Machines, and for POWER8 systems, supports multiple boot disks to allow selection of the appropriate boot device to use in recovery.
