PowerSC provides a security and compliance solution optimized for virtualized environments on Power Systems servers running IBM PowerVM® and IBM AIX or Linux on Power (enhanced support in PowerSC V1.2). Security control and compliance are some of the key components needed to defend virtualized data centers and cloud infrastructure against evolving threats.

The PowerSC product contains six subcomponents:

  • Compliance Automation (CA)
  • Real Time Compliance (RTC)
  • Patch Management and Trusted Network Computing (TNC)
  • Trusted Logging (TL)

  • Trusted Firewall (TF)

The UI components are installed as part of the larger PowerSC V1.2 installation process, which normally is done by using IBM's Network Installation Manager (NIM).

All UI user interaction is through a Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft™ Internet Explorer, or Microsoft Edge browser installed and run on user devices, such as desktops and laptops.

Reporting and audit enhancements

A Power Systems administrator can better support compliance audits with a new interactive timeline report of security (FIM), compliance, and patch status events for AIX and Linux on Power endpoints.

  • History timeline for endpoint showing:
    • Compliance events
    • Security events (FIM)
    • TNC/Patch events

Patch Management additions and GUI integration

A Power Systems administrator can centrally view patch status and trigger updates for all AIX and Linux on Power endpoints.
