IBM® i2® iBase is an intuitive intelligence data management application that enables collaborative teams of analysts to capture, control, and analyze data from multiple sources in security-rich workgroup environments. i2 iBase addresses the analyst's daily challenge of discovering and uncovering networks, patterns, and trends in the increasing volumes of complex structured and unstructured data, providing a multi-user data-sharing environment that combines rich analysis and visualization capabilities together with intelligence dissemination tools.

Version 9.0.0 delivers the following enhancements:

  • A modernized and updated code base to ensure i2 iBase is ready for the most demanding operating environments
  • A refreshed user experience that features upgraded dialogs, improved workflows, and numerous new capabilities, such as advanced subsets, merge links, better data entry, new field level options, composite indexes, and more
  • Improvements to security both in the updated code base and with new features, such as the enhanced integration with Active Directory, to make version 9.0.0 the most secure and most sharable i2 iBase release to date
  • For system administrators, installation improvements with a new all-language installer
  • Numerous response time performance improvements that allow users to log in and perform their tasks with the responsiveness expected from a modern intelligence application

Starting with version 9.0.0, i2 iBase moves to the continuous delivery (CD) support model. With CD, organizations with eligible, on-premises IBM programs get new functionality delivered more frequently, by way of easy-to-install CD update packages.

i2 iBase provides a powerful workgroup solution for configuring, capturing, controlling, analyzing, and displaying complex information and relationships in link and entity data. i2 iBase is both a database application and a modelling and analysis tool.

With version 9.0.0, i2 iBase has evolved to use a new code base and includes numerous new features resulting in a safer, faster, more secure, and more useable product.

For the analyst, version 9.0.0 provides major performance improvements, together with a vastly improved everyday user experience in terms of faster connection and opening times, query response time, and improved security.

For system administrators, i2 iBase 9.0.0 introduces a single all-language installer for easier deployment along with numerous security improvements and design features to deliver a more modern deployment that meets the latest compliance and data sharing requirements.

New features:

  • An advanced subsets feature for improved collaboration
    • The number of records that can be contained in a subset is increased from 50,000 to 5,000,000.
    • Subsets can be manually or automatically synchronized.
    • The search 360 feature can be used to search subsets.
    • i2 iBase master database security can be applied to subset databases.
    • Conflict resolution is improved.
    • Automated synchronization tools can be used to manage updates between master and subset databases.
  • The ability to use search 360 faceting results to point to exactly where in a record the search term occurs
  • The addition of auditing, alerting, and advanced subsetting capabilities to the i2 Analyst's Notebook to i2 iBase plugin task pane
  • New field-level options to apply security, grade, or attachments to a file
  • Improved behavior of the pick lists feature
  • Auditing enhancements:
    • Create audit log journal entries
    • Enhanced ability to view records in the audit viewer
    • Control who can archive audit logs
    • Filter audit results based on the contents of a set
    • Use the audit viewer to open i2 iBase audit log archives
    • Improved audit use through the saving and reuse of audit queries
  • The ability to revert records to earlier versions
  • In addition to the merge entities feature, the ability to merge links
  • Improvements to data entry
    • Datasheets are faster than in previous releases and can be resized.
    • The PNG and TIFF image formats are now supported.
    • Images now resize appropriately to the window.
    • Data entry memos can now be up to one million characters.
    • A spellchecker is added to check entity and link data records.
  • Support for the latest Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS)
  • Improvements to the find feature dialog to make it easier to create links
    • Improved form reset capability
    • Easier record and query creation
  • The ability to build composite indexes for faster importing
  • Easier switching between i2 iBase databases
  • Upgraded active directory integration to enable authentication from domains in the same tree and from other trusted domains, enhancing collaboration across the enterprise
  • The ability to customize terminology to fit the user's workflow
  • Support for Microsoft™ SQL Server 2017 and Microsoft SQL Server 2019

Note: Effective with version 9.0.0, i2 iBase no longer includes the iBase Cyber IP DNS Resolution plug in or integration with IBM i2 Text Chart. Additionally, i2 iBase no longer supports the Microsoft Windows™ 2012 R2 operating system.

The information provided in this announcement letter is for reference and convenience purposes only. The terms and conditions that govern any transaction with IBM are contained in the applicable contract documents such as the IBM International Program License Agreement, IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement, and the IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance.

This product is only available through Passport Advantage.

Licensing

IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.

This software license includes Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance).

Software Maintenance

Licenses under the IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) provide for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available. Two charges apply: a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.

Limited warranty

IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.

IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. For further information, see the IBM Support Guide.

IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).

Program technical support

Technical support of a program product version or release will be available for a minimum of two years from the general availability date, as long as your Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) is in effect.

This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (by telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Subscription and Support (Software Maintenance) also provides you with access to versions, releases, and updates (CD releases, Long Term Support Releases or fixes) of the program. You will be notified, through an announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with six months' notice.

If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension may be available for a fee.

Money-back guarantee

If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

For clarification, note that (1) for programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage offering, this term applies only to your first acquisition of the program and (2) for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacity on Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since these offerings apply to programs already acquired and in use by you.

Yes. Software Subscription and Support, also referred to as Software Maintenance, is included with licenses purchased through Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express. Product upgrades and Technical Support are provided by the Software Subscription and Support offering as described in the Agreements. Product upgrades provide the latest versions and releases to entitled software, and Technical Support provides voice and electronic access to IBM support organizations, worldwide.

IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support with each program license acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available.

While your Software Subscription and Support is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation, usage (how-to), and other program-related questions. IBM provides assistance by telephone and electronic means during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours). IBM provides Severity 1 (System Down) assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For additional details, see the IBM Support Guide. Software Subscription and Support does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under the applicable agreements.

Unless specified otherwise in a written agreement with you, IBM does not provide support for third-party products that were not provided by IBM. Ensure that when contacting IBM for covered support, you follow problem determination and other instructions that IBM provides, including in the IBM Support Guide.
