A portal is one of the most important components in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). IBM WebSphere Portal is available for a variety of platforms, including z/OS and z/Linux. In this book we discuss IBM WebSphere Portal Enable for z/OS Version 6.0.0.1 , which combines the rich functionality brought by IBM WebSphere Portal for Multiplatforms with the Qualities of Service provided by the z/OS platform to provide a robust computing platform. The information in this book is based on experiences gained during an ITSO Proof of Concept in which we installed and configured WebSphere Portal on z/OS in a highly available and secure environment. It is targeted to those who need to implement Portal in System z environments.

This IBM Redbook describes the features and functionality of Workplace Forms and each of its component products. After introducing the products and providing an overview of features and functionality, we discuss the underlying product architecture and address the concept of integration. To help potential users, architects, and developers better understand how to develop and implement a forms application, we introduce a specific scenario based on a "Sales Quotation Approval" application. Using this base scenario as a foundation, we describe in detail how to build an application that captures data in a form, then applies specific business logic and workflow to gain approval for a specific product sales quotation. Throughout the scenario, we build upon the complexity of the application and introduce increasing integration points with other data systems. Ultimately, we demonstrate how an IBM Workplace Forms application can integrate with WebSphere Portal, IBM DB2 Content Manager, and Lotus Domino. Note: The code used for building this sample scenario application is available for download. For specific information about how to download the sample code, please refer to Appendix A. The Patterns for e-business are a group of proven, reusable assets that can be used to accelerate the design and development of e-business applications. This IBM Redbook focuses on how to reuse the SOA Client - Access Integration patterns to extend enterprise applications to a wide range of client devices such as laptops, PDAs, and mobile phones. Part 1 presents the client access solution domain and benefits of using patterns. We introduce key technologies to serve as a foundation for understanding the Access Integration patterns. Part 2 guides the reader through the process of reusing the patterns assets within the context of the RUP to accelerate the solution design. We include selection criteria to navigate from the Business and IT drivers to the appropriate Application pattern or patterns, and supporting Runtime pattern, component model, and Product mapping instantiated by IBM software products. Part 3 demonstrates how to reuse the patterns for a fictitious ITSO Insurance scenario. The scenario highlights the Distributed Rich Client application pattern, which is used to extend the existing SOA enterprise application. The solution provides mobile adjusters with the capability to work on-site with the customer in a disconnectable mode and sync data with the enterprise when connected to the network. The Runtime pattern is instantiated by IBM WebSphere Everyplace Deployment V6.0.

The identity and access management solutions described in this IBM Redbook include the following key areas: User provisioning: Develop a portlet interface for self-care (user and account management), and approval of user provisioning requests by utilizing the Tivoli Identity Manager (TIM) APIs, services, workflow and policies. Tivoli Directory Integrator Assembly Lines and connectors are used to provision users to an LDAP directory, DB2 UDB database, and DB2 Content Manager. Authentication: Provide an integrated single sign-on (SSO) authentication solution using Tivoli Access Manager, and related technologies such as trusted association interceptor (TAI), Credential Vault, and LtpaToken. Authorization: Manage user access control through TIM provisioning policies and role mapping with products that have access models such as Tivoli Access Manager, WebSphere Portal, and DB2 Content Manager. First, we describe the key concepts, benefits, and architecture of an identity and access management solution. Then we present an end-to-end working example scenario for identity and access management system. The example includes business requirements, architecture, details for implementing the runtime and development environments, creation of Identity Manager policies and workflow, provisioning portlet development, deployment, and administration. Finally, we provide procedures to deploy and run the HR and document management applications used in the working example.
