IBM® Content Manager OnDemand is the industry leading report management product. It provides enterprise report management and electronic statement presentment. It is high-performance middleware for automatic management of formatted computer output and reports. Content Manager OnDemand helps companies gain significant return on investment by transforming costly high-volume print output to electronic information capture and presentation in support of customer service. Content Manager OnDemand includes the OnDemand Web Enablement Kit (ODWEK) with which companies can build their own Web applications for interfacing with Content Manager OnDemand. Many companies have used ODWEK, and the usage continues to grow significantly as companies integrate Content Manager OnDemand into their enterprise Web and portal solutions. In this IBM Redbooks® publication, we provide an overview of the ODWEK version 8.4 Java™ APIs and explain the commonly used APIs for application development. In addition, we examine the capabilities and usage of the APIs through use cases, best practices, hints and tips, and code snippets. We also explain connection pooling, folder searching, document retrieval, document storing and updating, memory and performance, and troubleshooting in terms of application development. The ODWEK Java APIs can be incorporated into any Java-based application, including stand-alone applications, portlets, servlets and Web services. We illustrate the APIs by using servlet-based code to encourage an integrated underst

This IBM Redbooks publication covers a variety of topics relating to the practical application of Content Manager OnDemand (simply referred to as "OnDemand") for Multiplatforms Version 8.3 (also known as Version 7.1.2.5), z/OS Version 7.1, and IBM eServer iSeries Common Server Version 5.3 of the OnDemand product. Where necessary, separate sections are included to cover variations between the different platforms. This IBM Redbooks publication provides helpful, practical advice, hints, and tips for those involved in the design, installation, configuration, system administration, and tuning of an OnDemand system. It covers key areas that are either not well known to the OnDemand community or are misunderstood. We reviewed all aspects of the OnDemand topics. Among these topics, which we present in this IBM Redbooks publication, are administration, database structure, multiple instances, storage management, performance, PDF indexing, OnDemand Web Enablement Kit, data conversion, report distribution, exits, and iSeries Common Server migration. Because a number of other sources are available that address various subjects on different platforms, this IBM Redbooks publication is not intended as a comprehensive guide for OnDemand. We step beyond the existing OnDemand documentation to provide insight into the issues that might be encountered in the setup and use of OnDemand.

This IBM Redbooks publication will help you implement an IBM Content Manager OnDemand solution from the beginning to the end. We discuss the various stages of the Content Manager OnDemand solution implementation, including planning, software installation and configuration, design, application setup and verification, functional testing, performance testing, training, and finally deployment into production. The book is intended to provide end-to-end implementation guidelines to audiences who already have general Content Manager OnDemand product knowledge. To really help you understand the implementation process, we provide case studies drawn from real-life implementations. We cover all platforms of the Content Manager OnDemand products, which include Multiplatforms, i5/OS, and z/OS.

This IBM Redbook helps you understand backup, recovery, high availability, business continuity strategies, and options available for IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand. We begin with an introduction of the basic concepts of backup and recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity. We also provide an overview of IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand. Because OnDemand is available on multiplatforms, iSeries, and z/OS, we address each platform separately, and discuss the backup and recovery strategies and options for each platform. In addition, we discuss various high availability and business continuity strategies and options. When applicable, we provide practical procedures and steps to accomplish backup, recovery, and high availability with sample commands and scripts. In some instances, case studies are presented to show you how real-world businesses implement backup procedures, high availability configurations, and disaster recovery plans. This redbook is intended for IT architects, IT specialists, and OnDemand system administrators who are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining OnDemand systems for various platforms.

This IBM Redbook describes a sample implementation of a complex solution that addresses a key challenge being faced by many enterprises today. Document and record management has always been a difficult (and often manual) process. Enterprises need to address this challenge, not only to make their business, employees, partners, and customers more efficient, but also to comply with ever-increasing regulations. Addressing these requirements demands a flexible solution that can be integrated with current and future IT systems and applications. It is also critical that it is driven through controllable and automated business processes. This book describes a sample solution that integrates IBM DB2 Records Manager, IBM DB2 Content Manager, IBM WebSphere Application Server Enterprise Process Choreographer, IBM WebSphere Portal, IBM Tivoli Directory Server, and other software to provide a prototype solution. Though basic in its function, the solution and the steps to implement it can be used to help architects, IT specialists, and developers get started in creating a solution addressing their enterprise-specific requirements.

In this IBM Redbook, we deal with implementing Web applications using IBM DB2 Content Manager Information Integrator for Content Version 8 and IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand Web Enablement Kit. It is aimed at designers and developers of Content Manager systems. In Part 1, we provide a brief introduction to Content Manager, OnDemand, Web application basics, and the case study we use throughout the entire redbook when showing and demonstrating how to develop Web applications. In Part 2, we work specifically with application development with Information Integrator for Content. We provide a brief programming overview and show you how to get a quick start with developing Web applications using the Java OO APIs. Using non-visual Java beans, we show you how to build a generic Content Manager application. Working with the case study, we also show you how to build a customized Content Manager application. Lastly, we show you how you can add text search and document rendering in your application. In Part 3, we work with ODWEK. We provide a brief overview of Web enabling OnDemand, installing and configuring of ODWEK, and developing a Web application using ODWEK. There are many sample codes provided along with this redbook. They provide the basic concept and code for developing Content Manager and OnDemand Web applications.

This IBM Redbook implements a solution that integrates IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler and IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand products to provide centralized output processing for job logs (job outputs, message files, and audit files) from IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler and IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS. The solution provides immediate benefit by integrating the job logs into an online, electronic information archive and retrieval system, which is used for quick search and problem resolution purposes. As part of the solution, we cover defining and implementing the required infrastructure, to access these reports from a simple user interface. We also include examples and scenarios for using this solution. We include all scripts that make up this solution so that you will be able customize the solution according to your needs. We anticipate that the solution covered in this book will provide great value for IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler and IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS customers who are planning to deploy a centralized job logging and browsing system.

This Redbook provides a step-by-step guide on how to migrate an existing OnDemand Version 2.2.1 implementation to Version 7.1. We focus on OnDemand implementations that exist on Windows NT, Windows 2000, and AIX operating system platforms, paying particular attention to not only the OnDemand software but also to DB2 and ADSM/TSM. Each part of this redbook is catered towards a particular scenario where each chapter discusses issues and steps for specific operating system platforms. The three parts that form our base scenarios for this migration guide include Migrating a single OnDemand Library/Object Server, migrating an OnDemand Object Server, and migrating an OnDemand Library/Object Server from one machine to another. The chapters are designed to discuss chronological steps in performing the migration. This includes backups, upgrades, and necessary configuration updates needed for DB2, ADSM/TSM, and OnDemand. Our intention is to provide this redbook as a guide to the audience of OnDemand Administrators, IBM Business Partners, and IBM employees who support and implement OnDemand.
