show_conf
We have developed a set of scripts that capture basic OS and DCE configuration
and health information. The generic script name is show_conf
.
Versions of show_conf
are available for the following platforms:
- show_conf.aix4: for AIX
- show_conf.sol2: for Solaris
show_conf
should be run as UNIX root, but you need not
login to DCE. The information that it gathers includes the following:
- System type, including OS version
- Hardware and software configuration, including OS and DCE patch levels
- Network address(es) and interface(s)
- Listing of currently running processes
- DCE cell name, machine role, and contents of endpoint map
- Listing of security credentials directory
- Recent entries in DCE log files
- DCE "self" credentials listing
- Available disk and swap space
- IPC resource usage information
- Current VM statistics
- Current network packet-count and error statistics
- Listing of the CDS root directory
- CDS clerk and server statistics and other attributes
- Listings of known CDS clearinghouses
- Security client configuration file contents
- Listings of known security servers
- Recent DTS synchronization information
- Contents of DTS-relevant CDS profiles
- Names of any existing DCE or Encina core files
- Listings of working directories for DCE daemons
Output is just text, typically 20 to 40 pages' worth.
Update, March 2001: the script will now also gather DFS configuration info
on DFS clients and servers.
