IBM InfoSphere Streams Version 3.1 Fix Pack 8 Readme

Abstract

This readme file provides information about how to download and install IBM® InfoSphere® Streams Version 3.1.0.8 (Version 3.1, Fix Pack 8). InfoSphere Streams fix packs include a complete version of the product. When you install the Version 3.1.0.8 fix pack, the installation procedure installs a version of the product that contains all Version 3.1 fixes. To download IBM InfoSphere Streams Version 3.1 Fix Pack 8:

  1. Go to the IBM Fix Central website: http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/
  2. Navigate to the appropriate InfoSphere Streams product by using either the Select product or Find product tab. For example, on the Select product tab:
    • For the product group, select Software > Information Management.
    • For the product, select InfoSphere Streams.
    • For the installed version, select All.
    • For the platform, select the appropriate hardware or select All.
    • Click Continue.
  3. On the Identify Fixes page, select Browse for Fixes and then click Continue.
  4. On the Select Fixes page, select the appropriate fix ID then click Continue to download the fix pack. For more information, see the fix IDs in Table 1 and the fix pack package file names in Table 2.

Prerequisites and requirements

Installation

InfoSphere Streams fix packs include a complete version of the product. You can use the fix pack to upgrade InfoSphere Streams Version 3.0 (all releases) to Version 3.1.0.8. You can also use the fix pack to install InfoSphere Streams for the first time on the system or to install it with a different installation owner than the previous installation.

Prior to installation: Perform all of the appropriate preparatory tasks, as described in the Planning roadmap. If you are performing a new InfoSphere Streams installation, there is also a Preinstallation roadmap.

Installing:
  1. Extract the contents of the fix pack package files.
    For example, to extract the contents of the fix pack on an x86 (64-bit) RHEL 6 system, enter the following commands: 
    tar -zxvf 3.1.0.8-IM-Streams-el6-x86_64-fp0008.tar.gz
    cd 3.1.0.8-IM-Streams-el6-x86_64-fp0008
    tar -zxvf Streams-3.1.0.8-x86_64-el6.tar.gz
  2. Go to the StreamsInstallFiles directory, which contains the InfoSphere Streams self-extracting installation binary file (InfoSphereStreamsSetup.bin) and other install files.
  3. Install InfoSphere Streams Version 3.1.0.8.
  4. Optional: Install the information center on your system. Extract the contents of the Information Center package (for example, StreamsInfoCenter-ppc64.tar.gz or StreamsInfoCenter-x86_64.tar.gz). Uninstalling if necessary: You cannot uninstall a fix pack. You must uninstall the full InfoSphere Streams product. For more information, see Uninstalling InfoSphere Streams.
