Prerequisites and requirements

For an overview of planning considerations and requirements for Streams, see the Planning roadmap.

Installation

Streams fix packs include a complete version of the product. You can use the fix pack to upgrade Streams Version 4.2.1 to Version 4.2.1.3. You can also use the fix pack to install Streams for the first time on the system or to install it with a different installation owner than the previous installation.

Installing:
  1. Extract the contents of the fix pack package files.
For example, to extract the contents of the fix pack on an x86 (64-bit) RHEL 6 system, enter the following commands:
    tar -zxvf 4.2.1.3-IM-Streams-DE-el6-x86_64-fp0003.tar.gz
    cd 4.2.1.3-IM-Streams-DE-el6-x86_64-fp0003
    tar -zxvf Streams-DE-4.2.1.3-x86_64-el6.tar.gz
  2. Go to the StreamsInstallFiles directory, which contains the Streams self-extracting installation binary file (InfoSphereStreamsSetup.bin) and other installation files.
  3. Install Streams Version 4.2.1.3.

Performing the necessary tasks after installation: See the Postinstallation roadmap.

Uninstalling if necessary: When you install a fix pack, Streams creates a new version directory for the fix pack installation. The version directory for the previous installation is not removed.  You can uninstall the fix pack by uninstalling the version of the product in the fix pack installation directory. For more information, see Uninstalling IBM Streams.
