IBM® Security® Identity Manager Password Synchronization Plug-in for IBM Tivoli Access Manager (6.0.1) is available. These Release Notes include compatibility, installation, and configuration details.
Welcome to the IBM Security Identity Manager Password Synchronization Plug-in for IBM Tivoli Access Manager.
These Release Notes contain information for the following products that was not available when the IBM Security Identity Manager manuals were printed:
The IBM Security Identity Manager Password Synchronization Plug-in for IBM Tivoli Access Manager is designed to enable communication between IBM Security Identity Manager and IBM Tivoli Access Manager for e-business WebSEAL to complete password checking and synchronization operations.
The IBM Security Identity Manager Adapters are powerful tools that require Administrator Level authority. Adapters operate in a similar manner to a human system administrator, creating accounts, permissions and home directories. Operations requested from the IBM Security Identity Manager server fail if the Adapter is not given sufficient authority to perform the requested task. In your environment, configure this Adapter to run with administrative (root) permissions.

Due to the binding of error messages displayed by the IBM® Security® Identity Manager Password Synchronization Plug-in for IBM Tivoli Access Manager and the IBM Tivoli Access Manager WebSEALs translations pages additional trace messages are unable to be added. This request may be reviewed in a later release of the adapter but at this stage it will remain a limitation.

Corrections to Installation Guide
The following corrections to the Installation Guide apply to this release:
None.
Configuration Notes
The following configuration notes apply to this release:
If WebSphere Application Server is configured in FIPS mode you must start WebSeal with the GSKit environment variable GSK_PROTOCOL_TLSV1=ENABLED.
If you have ciphers defined on the WebSphere Application Server in FIPS mode you might need to configure the ciphers on WebSEAL using the following GSKit environment variables -
export GSK_PROTOCOL_SSLV3=ENABLED
exprot GSK_V3_CIPHER_SPECS="ciphers",
where,
GSK_V3_CIPHER_SPECS
/// The list of available SSL V3 cipher specifications. The list contains the valid string values.
/// You can use any combination of these values. None of these valuse can be used more than once.
/// 00 - NULL NULL
/// 01 - NULL MD5
/// 02 - NULL SHA
/// 03 - RC4 MD5 Export
/// 04 - RC4 MD5 US
/// 05 - RC4 SHA US
/// 06 - RC2 MD5 Export
/// 09 - DES SHA Export
/// 35 - AES SHA 256 NotExportable
/// 62 - DES SHA Export1024
/// 64 - RC4-56 SHA Export1024
/// 0A - Triple DES SHA US
/// 2F - TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA
/// 35 - TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA
This requirement can be met by using the built-in password obfuscation provided by the pdadmin tool. To obfuscate the passwords in the IBM® Security® Identity Manager Password Synchronization Plug-in for IBM Tivoli Access Manager configuration file execute the following steps -
1). Stop WebSEAL.
2). Run the following commands -
#> pdadmin -l
pdadmin local> config modify keyvalue set -obfuscate
pdadmin local> config modify keyvalue set -obfuscate
Example -
pdadmin local> config modify keyvalue set -obfuscate "C:\Program Files\Tivoli\PDWeb\bin\passwdsync.conf" itim principal-password passw0rd
3). Open the passwdsync.conf file and ensure that the following attributes
are removed -
principal-password
keydatabase-password
4). Re-start WebSEAL.
To verify this solution, use the WebSEAL pkmspasswd.html interface to complete a password change. A successful password change indicates that the obfuscation of the passwords in the configuration file has worked correctly.
The fix for this APAR was to expose missing symbols in the Tivoli Access Manager Runtime. The official fix for this APAR is part of the 6.1.1-TIV-TAM-FP0003.
To obtain access to this fix before the official fix pack release, contact your IBM support team directly. The support team can provide the fix directly. This fix cannot be fully supported until the official release is available.
To implement the token bypass functionality the optional "is_token_bypass" configuration option has been added. This can be set within the configuration file used by the IBM Security Identity Manager Password Synchronization Plug-in. This new configuration option has the following syntax -
is_token_bypass=[true|false]
If the "is_token_bypass" option is set to "true" then both the check and sychronization operations will not be executed.
If the "is_token_bypass" option is not set or set to "false" then the check and sychronization operations will be executed as was the existing behaviour of the adapter.
