IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Siebel JDB Adapter 5.1.9 is available. Compatibility, installation, and other getting-started issues are addressed.
Welcome to the IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Siebel JDB Adapter.
These Release Notes contain information for the following products that was not available when the IBM Tivoli Identity Manager manuals were printed:
· IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Siebel JDB Adapter Installation and Configuration Guide
The Siebel JDB Adapter is designed to create and manage accounts on the Siebel Application. The adapter runs in "agentless" mode and communicates using Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) and JDB to the systems being managed.
IBM recommends the installation of this adapter (and the prerequisite Tivoli Directory Integrator) on each node of an Identity Manager WAS cluster. A single copy of the adapter can handle multiple IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Services. The deployment configuration is based, in part, on the topology of your network domain, but the primary factor is the planned structure of your Identity Manager Provisioning Policies and Approval Workflow process. Please refer to the Identity Manager Information Center for a discussion of these topics.
The Identity Manager adapters are powerful tools that require Administrator Level authority. Adapters operate much like a human system administrator, creating accounts, permissions and home directories. Operations requested from the Identity Manager server will fail if the adapter is not given sufficient authority to perform the requested task. IBM recommends that this adapter run with administrative (root) permissions.
The ability to manage service groups is a new feature introduced in ITIM 5.1. By service groups, ITIM is referring to any logical entity that can group accounts together on the managed resource.
Managing service groups implies the following:
Create service groups on the managed resource.
Modify attribute of a service group.
Delete a service group.
Note that service group name change is not supported in ITIM 5.1 release.
The Siebel JDB Adapter does not support service groups management.

SiebelJDB Adapter needs support for Siebel 8.1 This release of Dispatcher is updated to provide support for the above enhancement. Changes made in SiebelJDBAdapterUtils.java component of Dispatcher, for SiebelJDB adapter to support Siebel8.1
This release of SiebelJDB adapter certifies Siebel 8.1(SIA) configured with MS Sql Server 2005.
It is required to use Dispatcher 5.720 with this version of SiebelJDB adapter for user provisioning is to be performed on Siebel81.

Known Issues

PMR# / Description |
Windows Platform Only This adapter installs into Tivoli Directory Integrator and may be installed only on Windows due to restrictions in the Siebel libraries. |

Uninstalling the Adapter Do not use the "-awt" option with the adapter uninstaller in console mode. Uninstaller can be run with "-console" and "-silent" options. |

Modifying Employee Organization Attribute Employee Organization must not be modified when adding a new organization. This is applicable to Users only. Siebel does not support Organization modification for a User. |
N/A |
Deleting "Employee Organization" Codes Deletion of all values of "Employee Organization" attribute is not supported on the Siebel application but the Siebel API used by the adapter allows it.
Workaround: Keep at least one organization associated with User/Employee account. Use a manual procedure or enforce the constraint using a ITIM Provisioning Policy. |
|
N/A |
Deleting "Non-Primary Position" Codes Deletion of non-primary position of an employee results into failure of next requests for the same user. This is a Siebel API issue and ticket is opened with Siebel. Siebel is working on the fix. To avoid this error, prior versions of the Siebel connector (5.0.1002 LA version) did not allow position deletes. This current version now allows position deletes - but it will give error until the time the Siebel provides the fix and is applied on the Siebel resource.
Workaround: If non-primary position for employee is deleted and the next transaction for the user fails, retry the transaction or restart the adapter Dispatcher. |
|
Windows Platform Only This adapter installs into Tivoli Directory Integrator and may be installed only on Windows due to restrictions in the Siebel libraries. |
||
When upgrading the adapter profile from a version earlier than 5.1.6, the upgrade may not complete successfully with the error "No upgrades are required." in ITIM's trace.log. This is due to the change in the format of the version information. In order to work around this issue, change the profile version information in ITIM's directory server. For example, edit the entry "erobjectprofilename=SiebelJDBProfile,ou=serviceProfile,ou=itim,ou=<org_short_name>,dc=com" and change the attribute "erproperties: ProfileVersion=5.1.1007" to "erproperties: ProfileVersion=5.1.5.1" then reinstall the adapter profile. |

The following corrections to the Installation Guide apply to this release:
Configuration Notes
The following configuration notes apply to this release:
None.
The Identity Manager adapters can be customized and/or extended. The type and method of this customization may vary from adapter to adapter.
Getting Started
Customizing and extending adapters requires a number of additional skills. The developer must be familiar with the following concepts and skills prior to beginning the modifications:
Note: If the customization requires a new Tivoli Directory Integrator connector, the developer must also be familiar with Tivoli Directory Integrator connector development and working knowledge of Java programming language.
IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Resources:
Check the "Training" section of the IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Support web site for links to training, publications, and demos.
Tivoli Directory Integrator Resources:
Check the "Training" section of the Tivoli Directory Integrator Support web site for links to training, publications, and demos.
Support for Customized Adapters
The integration to the Identity Manager server "the adapter framework" is supported. However, IBM does not support the customizations, scripts, or other modifications. If you experience a problem with a customized adapter, IBM Support may require the problem to be demonstrated on the GA version of the adapter before a PMR is opened.
Installation Platform
The IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Adapter was built and tested on the following product versions.
Adapter Installation Platform:
Managed Resource:
· Siebel v7.8
· Siebel v8.0.0 with Fix Pack 10 or higher
· Siebel v8.1
· Siebel v8.1.1 with Fix Pack 5 or higher
· Siebel v8.2.2 (only with TDI 7.1)
