Restoring iSCSI-attached integrated servers
You can recover integrated server storage spaces, network server descriptions, network server host adapter data, and network server configuration objects from IBM® i. If you used file-level backup, you also can restore specific Windows files.
Your recovery options for integrated server data depend on
how you backed up your system, as well as what you need to recover:
- If you need to recover all the network storage spaces on your system, follow the steps in Choosing the procedure to recover user information. The recovery of the user information is all you need to do to recover the storage spaces. The storage space information in a user ASP or independent ASP gets restored automatically when you are restoring the objects in '/QFPNWSSTG'. The restore operation creates the user-defined file system (UDFS) file, mounts it, and uses it, as the storage spaces are being restored.
- If you need to restore a network server description and its associated IBM i disk drives, see Restoring the NWSD and disks for an integrated server. This method is the easiest for restoring large amounts of data.
- In a disaster recovery situation, you need to restore all the configuration objects, one of which is the network server host adapter (NWSH). If you need to restore the NWSH, see Restoring NWSH objects for iSCSI-attached integrated servers.
- If you need to restore network server configuration (NWSCFG) objects, see Restoring NWSCFG objects and validation lists for iSCSI-attached integrated servers.
- If you need to restore individual integrated server files, see Restoring integrated Windows server files.
- To restore files that you saved with Windows or Linux backup utilities or other utilities, use those utilities.
