Enabling and accessing disk units
You must follow these procedures before you can perform any disk management tasks using IBM® Navigator for i or System i® Navigator.

tasks using IBM Navigator for
i, you need to set up the proper authorizations for dedicated service
tools (DST).
Before you can perform any disk management tasks with System i Navigator, you need
to install the Configuration and Service component and enable the
Disk Units folder.
- Install the Configuration and Service component.
- From the File menu of System i Navigator, select Install Options, and then click Selective Setup.
- Follow the instructions on the resulting dialog box to install the Configuration and Service component.
- Enable the Disk Units folder.
- In System i Navigator, right-click the system connection and select Application Administration.
- On the resulting window, click OK.
- Click the Host Applications tab.
- Expand your operating system.
- Select Disk Units to have Default Access or All Object Access.
- Click OK.
- Restart System i Navigator.
- Access the Disk Units folder to perform all disk management functions.
- In System i Navigator, expand My Connections (or your active environment).
