Issue the SETMEDBRM command before any command that performs tape I/O in addition to the previous example in a program. You can use it with the CPYTOTAP and CPYFRMTAP commands, as well as any i5/OS SAVLIB, SAVOBJ, RSTDLO, RSTUSRPRF commands. However, as you will note, SETMEDBRM will only record for media management purposes the status of the tape. You will not be able to use the BRMS functions (such as WRKMEDIBRM) to restore from this tape. It is always better to use the BRMS commands for save and restore operations for this reason.
