High Availability Support for I-ASPs in a BRMS Network

With this feature, you can run a recovery report on both System A and System B, and the I-ASP save information that is sent to the remote system will be included in both systems' recovery reports. Since each system owns and has the same I-ASP history, a full save can be done on one system and an incremental on the other, when the I-ASP is attached to both systems. Without this feature, the save information only resides on the system that did the save. Additional systems in the BRMS network would have to save the full I-ASP again and do separate incremental saves.

This feature is only available via the BRM graphical user interfaces, IBM® Systems Director web environment or System i® Navigator.

Follow these steps to configure:

  1. Select Backup, Recovery, and Media Services and select Global Policy Properties action item.
  2. On the Global Policy Properties panel, select Network tab.
  3. Select Manage Disk Pool History.
    Note:
The BRMS graphical interface refers to I-ASP’s as disk pools.
  4. On the Manage Disk Pool History to Send panel, click on List actions from the menu bar and select New.
  5. Enter in the disk pool name, the system name and network identifier of the system you wish the history information to be sent to and decide on whether to use the BRMS media information remote receives value that is defined by the "Send to system". You may override that systems value by selecting the "Always send" option. To know what the remote receives value is for that remote system, you may view it by going back to the Global Properties->Network and selecting Manage Systems. The value will be listed under the Remote Receives column for that remote system.
  6. Once complete, select OK.
  7. The disk pool will now show in the list of items in the Manage Disk Pool History to Send panel.
  8. You may repeat steps 4 through 6 for each system you wish to have disk pool history sent to.
