manage_disk_drivers Command

Purpose

Displays information about storage families and the driver that manages each family or changes the driver that manages a storage family.

Syntax

manage_disk_drivers [ -l ]

manage_disk_drivers [ -d [ device ] ] [ -o [ driver_option ]

manage_disk_drivers [ -h ]

Description

The manage_disk_drivers command displays a list of storage families and the driver that manages or supports each family. A storage family is a storage model. All disks within the family must be managed by the same driver.

The -d flag must be used only with the -o flag.

If you specify the -d flag with the storage device name, the manage_disk_drivers command changes the driver selection to an alternate supported driver that is specified with the -o flag.

The manage_disk_drivers command runs the bosboot command and displays a message to reboot the system for the change to take effect.

Note: DS3K, DS4K, and DS5K devices are configured as Multipath I/O (MPIO) devices. The MPIO support for these devices removes the limitation of connecting only one adapter to each DS3K, DS4K, or DS5K controller port. The manage_disk_drivers command can be used to specify that certain device types use the FCPARRAY driver instead of MPIO. The FCPARRAY driver does not support all devices types and firmware levels. All of the DS4K devices that use the FCPARRAY driver can be migrated to the MPIO driver, by uninstalling the devices.fcp.disk.array.rte package and then running the cfgmgr command or rebooting the devices.

Flags

Item Description
-l Lists all the storage devices and their supported drivers.
-d Specifies the storage device name such as DS4800 and 2810XIV.
-o Specifies the driver name such as AIX_AAPCM and AIX_non_MPIO.

  2. To modify the driver to AIX_fcparray that manages DS4800 device, enter the following command:
    manage_disk_drivers -d device -o driver_option
The system displays a message similar to the following example:
    # manage_disk_drivers -d DS4800 -o AIX_fcparray
