Selecting jumbo frame mode on Gigabit Ethernet

You must select the jumbo frame mode as a device option.

Trying to change the MTU size with the ifconfig command does not work. Use SMIT to display the adapter settings with the following steps:

  1. Select Devices
  2. Select Communications
  3. Select Adapter Type
  4. Select Change/Show Characteristics of an Ethernet Adapter
  5. Change the Transmit Jumbo Frames option from no to yes
The SMIT screen looks like the following:
Change/Show Characteristics of an Ethernet Adapter

Type or select values in entry fields.
Press Enter AFTER making all desired changes.
