NENU installation and configuration

NENU (New Enhanced Notification Utility) is an IBM® Datacap Taskmaster Capture software component that sets up batch monitoring, status notification, and automatic deletion of completed batches.

You can use NENU to monitor the status of your Taskmaster applications and:

NENU includes the following components:

NENU Manager
A configuration utility for creating the required settings file and running NENU rulesets manually.
NENU actions
A library of actions that you can use to connect to a Taskmaster application and query the database for batch information. Modify information in the database, move or delete batches, and send notifications. You can use these actions in rulesets in an existing Taskmaster application or you can create a new application specifically for batch monitoring.

You can run NENU manually by using NENU Manager or automatically at scheduled times by using the Windows Task Scheduler.

To install and configure NENU, you must complete the following steps.
  1. Create or ensure that an account exists for NENU, and grant that account the appropriate sharing and security permissions on the Taskmaster Server.
  2. On the computer on which the NENU process (NENU.exe) is run, add the NENU domain/Windows account to either the Administrators or Backup Operators group.
  3. Ensure that the developer was granted sharing and security permissions on the Taskmaster Server by following the instructions in the section titled Configure Taskmaster on Server.
  4. Install NENU on the DevWorkstation.
  5. After you install and configure NENU in a client/server environment, follow the instructions in Creating a NENU application . To develop your custom NENU application and set up Windows Task Scheduler to run your NENU application.
