Configuring and managing exceptions in Data Quality Exception Console

You must install and configure IBM® Business Process Manager Standard and Subscription Manager to run and manage the sample processes that are included in IBM Stewardship Center. You receive an email notification of exception events that are generated from exception providers in IBM InfoSphere® Information Server.

Before you begin

IBM WebSphere® Application Server and a database must be installed.

You must have the Exception Management Data Steward or Exception Management Steward Manager role in InfoSphere Information Server.

InfoSphere Information Server, Version 11.5 or later must be installed. To use WebSphere Application Server in a cluster topology, InfoSphere Information Server Version 11.5 Fix Pack 1 or later must be installed.

About this task

The Data Quality Exception Events component includes Subscription Manager. This component is automatically installed when you install InfoSphere Information Server.

You install IBM Business Process Manager Standard, which includes IBM Stewardship Center.

IBM Stewardship Center includes these components:
Data Quality Exception sample process application
A sample process that includes the workflow to manage remediation-related tasks.
Stewardship Center Application Toolkit
A toolkit to expand the capabilities of the sample process or to create your own custom workflow.

Procedure

  1. Configure the Data Quality Exception Events component.

    The Data Quality Exception Events component includes the Data Quality Exception Console, Subscription Manager, and the events and notification services that support these applications.

  2. Install and configure IBM Business Process Manager Standard.

    IBM BPM must be installed to use Subscription Manager.

  3. Customize the login page to be IBM Stewardship Center.

    The login page of IBM BPM is changed to be IBM Stewardship Center.

  4. Import and configure the Data Quality Exception sample process application.

    You must import the Data Quality Exception sample process application. The application file has sample processes that are used by IBM BPM when exception events occur. You can use these sample processes or a process that you design by using Stewardship Center Application Toolkit.

  5. Optional: Customize your sample processes. You can edit the sample processes that are provided by Data Quality Exception Console to meet the needs of your organization.
  6. Optional: Create and use your own processes to manage and resolve data quality exceptions. Do these steps:
    1. Create your processes by using Stewardship Center Application Toolkit.
    2. Import your process into IBM BPM.
    3. Customize Data Quality Exception Console to send exception sets to your IBM BPM process in IBM Stewardship Center.
  7. Open IBM Stewardship Center to work with exception events in IBM BPM.
  8. Customize which exceptions are sent to IBM Stewardship Center.
  9. Manage exception events in Data Quality Exception Console.
  10. Resolve exceptions, exception sets, and exception records.
  11. Optional: Monitor team and process performance by using IBM Process Portal Dashboard.
  12. Optional: Link exceptions to IBM InfoSphere Information Governance Dashboard.
