InfoSphere DataStage Connections to SAP BW page

The DataStage Connections to BW page opens by default. This page displays the list of systems that the IBM® InfoSphere® DataStage® jobs can access. This list is stored as a flat file on the InfoSphere DataStage Server machine, and the individual connections contain SAP connection and logon details, and configuration information needed by particular stages.

The InfoSphere DataStage Connections to BW page includes the following buttons that let you manage the list of connections that is maintained on the InfoSphere DataStage server machine. Most of these operations are also available in the Select DataStage Connection to BW dialog.

  • Click New to open the Connection Properties dialog, where you can create a new connection.
  • Click Properties to open the Connection Properties dialog, where you can change the configuration for the selected connection.
  • Click Remove to make the selected connection unavailable for use by InfoSphere DataStage.
  • Click Source Systems to open the Select Source System dialog, where you can select a source system that is different from the default.

The dialog box has the following buttons:

    • Click Attach to open the Attach Source System dialog, where you can make an existing Source System that is already defined within SAP BW available for use by InfoSphere DataStage. The attach operation is similar to the Add Source System operation in the stage GUI.
    • Click New... to open the Source System Properties dialog, where you can view and modify the properties of the currently selected Source System (For an example, see the section for the GUI.)
    • Click Monitor RFC to open the BW Load PACK Log dialog. See the following section for details.
Notes:
  • Starting from version 4.3.3.1, only the DataStage users with DataStage and QualityStage Administrator role can define and manage SAP BW connections. All users with other roles can view the already existing SAP Connection properties, but are not allowed to add, update, remove or import any SAP BW Connection.
  • Starting from version 4.4, connection management can only be done at the centralized location of DataStage Administrator for SAP BW. This functionality has been removed from all stage GUIs. However, using connection menu View in DataStage Administrator for SAP BW in General Page of stage GUI, you can directly launch DataStage Administrator for SAP BW for the selected SAP BW connection.
  • Starting from version 4.4, the Pack uses stronger encryption logic (salted hashing) to store the SAP connection password (configuration file, DSBWConnections.config). SAP connections migrated from earlier Pack versions to version 4.4, will continue to use the old logic encrypted password. To convert the passwords to the newer stronger encryption logic, you just need to open and close the DataStage Administrator for SAP BW. This updates the passwords for all defined connections. However, note that once passwords are converted, the configuration file will not be usable anymore with lower versions of SAP Pack.
