Functionality of BW 7.x Load stage

With SAP BW 7.x Load stage, you can load data directly into SAP BW systems using 7.x DataSource (SAP BW object type R3TR RSDS) and integrate it with data from other sources, using the visual design process of IBM® InfoSphere® DataStage® for modeling and deploying source-to-target transformations and loads. The SAP BW 7.x Load stage is a target stage with one input link. The stage supports only parallel execution and thus only Parallel jobs are supported. The BW 7.x Load stage provides interfaces for the SAP BW 7.3 Staging scenario.

DataSources are logical data interface definitions that are used to transfer data to SAP BW systems. DataSources can be defined using flat structures for transaction data, master data attributes and master data texts. DataSources for hierarchies use a flat structure in order to transfer data which is split into different segments within SAP BW.

This stage has the following functionality:

  • Supports the creation of third party Source Systems in SAP BW.
  • You can select SAP BW 7.x DataSources that are already defined in the selected Source system.
  • You can create a reference of 7.x DataSource from a given Source System to Selected Source System.
  • You can create InfoPackages to load data from the Load stage, including load requests initiated by the stage. (You can schedule the load using SAP BW.)
  • Supports the use of job parameters for the source system and connection properties of the stage.
  • Is integrated with the InfoPackage third party selections for the SAP BW user interface to allow the display of InfoSphere DataStage job parameters and possible values.
  • Supports data streaming directly to SAP BW.
  • Provides multithreaded RFC Servers to support simultaneous load requests.
  • Supports loading of master data hierarchies.
  • Supports SAP load-balancing capabilities.
  • Provides the InfoSphere DataStage Administrator for SAP utility to manage:
    • RFC Servers
    • RFC Server logs
    • SAP BW connection configuration
    • Source System configurations
  • Supports NLS (National Language Support). For information, see National Language Support.
