Module 2: Classifying values

In this module, you will strengthen the contextual information that the new data provides by categorizing parts of the data. You will add classification definitions that assign new values to existing classes and add a custom class to categorize the data.

The data for the new product lines that the fictional Sample Outdoor Company acquired includes the following types of values:
  • New values to assign to an existing class
  • A new type of value that the company wants to create a class for

Because some of the brand names for the new products are not assigned to the product brand class, rules that handle patterns with the product brand class do not handle the new data. In the first part of this module, you will identify how brand names for the new products are currently classified. To ensure that the brand names are handled by appropriate existing rules, you will add classification definitions that assign new product brands to the product brand class.

Additionally, some of the records for the product lines that the fictional Sample Outdoor Company recently acquired include information about the unit that is used to measure the size of the product, such as CM or CC. To categorize these values, you will add a custom class for unit of measure. After the class is added, you can write rules that properly handle the size data.
