Exporting projects from the client

You can use the IBM® InfoSphere® Information Analyzer client to export projects and project assets.

Before you begin

To perform this task you must have InfoSphere Information Analyzer Project Administrator privileges.

About this task

You can import and export most InfoSphere Information Analyzer assets by using the import and export wizards in the InfoSphere Information Analyzer client. All assets, except reports, that are associated with a specified project are exported or imported as part of the project when they are imported or exported with the import and export wizards that are available from the File menu. However, you can import or export a subset of data quality components (data rule definitions, rule set definitions, data rules, rule sets, or metrics) by using the import and export wizards from the Develop > Data Quality workspace.

Analysis assets that were originally imported into the metadata repository by using the InfoSphere Discovery MetaBroker® or DBM File MetaBroker are also included when you export a project.

Note: You must use the istools command line to import and export InfoSphere Information Analyzer reports.

Procedure

  1. Open the InfoSphere Information Analyzer client, and click File > Export Project.
  2. Select the project you want to export assets for and click Next.
  3. In the Export window, specify details about the project that you want to export:
    1. In the Package Name field, enter a name for the file that will contain the exported project.
    2. Enter the location that you want to export the project to in the Location field. For example, specify "C:\IBM\InformationServer\temp" on a Microsoft Windows system or "/opt/export" on a Unix system.
    3. Select the asset types that you want to include.
  4. Click Export.
  5. Click OK on the export status page to close the export dialog box. Keep the status page open if you want to monitor the progress of the export task.

What to do next

After completing the export task, the assets are exported in a package file to the server. After they are exported to the server, any IBM InfoSphere Information Server product that can access the server can import the package from the server.

Note: Archive files that are exported by using the client can be imported only by using the client.
