Browsing terms in the Term Type Hierarchy view

You can display the relationships of a term in a hierarchical tree format. This format helps you to better understand the meaning of the term and its relationships with other terms.

About this task

The Term Type Hierarchy view displays the conceptual relationship between terms in a hierarchical format. You can display the following conceptual relationships:
Is A Type Of
The concept that is expressed by a term is an instance of the concept that is expressed by another term that is typically broader in scope.
For example, the term Home Loan might be specified as A Type Of term to the term Loan, because a home loan is a type of loan.
Has Types
The concept that is expressed by a term has one or more subtypes that are expressed by other terms.
For example, the term Loan might Have Type Home Loan, because a home loan is a type of loan.

Procedure

  1. If workflow is enabled, click either Glossary Development or Catalog, depending on the catalog that you want to search. Otherwise, click Catalog.
  2. Click Glossary.
  3. In the Browse list, click Term Type Hierarchy.
  4. Click a term in the Term Type Hierarchy pane to view its details in the View Details pane.
