Migrating queries to version 6.0

To migrate your queries to version 6.0, you must export your queries on your existing Rational® Engineering Lifecycle Manager installation , and import the queries archive into the version 6.0 Report Builder.

Before you begin

To import queries into the Report Builder, you must have JazzAdmins permission.

About this task

To migrate queries complete these steps:
  1. In your existing Rational Engineering Lifecycle Manager installation, export the queries as a .zip file. The queries archive contains XML file. The file name is custom.sparql. All the exported queries are described in the XMLfile.
  2. Import the queries .zip file into the version 6.0 Report Builder.
You can also migrate enumerations that are used in queries as parameters. To migrate enumerations, complete these steps:
  1. Export the enumerations as a .zip file. The enumerations archive contains an XML file. The file name is custom.enumeration. The exported enumerations are described in the XML file.
  2. Extract the enumerations archive, and copy the custom.enumeration file into the queries archive.
  3. Import the queries archive into the version 6.0 Report builder.

Procedure

  1. In a browser window, log on to your existing Rational Engineering Lifecycle Manager application at https://server:port/relm/web and open your project.
  2. Go to Queries > Shared Queries page, select the queries that you want to export.
  3. Click the Export icon: Export icon.
Screen capture showing several queries that are selected and the location of the export icon
  4. The selected queries are saved into a .zip file on your computer. The .zip file follows a naming convention of the number of queries in the package, the content type, and then an ISO 8601 time stamp. For example, the package that is created on April 23 2014 is called: 3_queries_2013-04-23T19_07_35Z.zip
Note: To export enumerations, follow these steps:
    1. Open the Enumeration Manager dialog box to export enumerations from the Queries edit window.
      1. Select a query that contains an enumeration.
      2. Click the pencil icon to edit the query.
      3. In the Parameters section, select Enumeration from the Type list.
      4. Select More under any enumeration parameter to start the Enumeration Manager.
    2. Click the Export icon: Export icon.

The enumerations are exported in a .zip file.
    3. Extract the enumerations .zip file, and copy the custom.enumeration file into the queries archive.
  5. In a browser window, log on to the version 6.0 Report Builder Setup page at https://server:port/rs/setup.
  6. Click Import additional reports such as those provided by IBM, business partners, or others, browse to your saved queries archive, and click OK to import the Rational Engineering Lifecycle Manager queries into the Report Builder.

Results

The Rational Engineering Lifecycle Manager queries and enumerations that you exported are now available in the version 6.0 Report Builder. You can view the imported queries as Jazz™ Reporting Service reports.

What to do next

Important: Administrators cannot export personal queries saved in the My Queries folder. Rational Engineering Lifecycle Manager users must export their personal queries and send them to the administrator. As an administrator, you can import the queries into the Report builder. The user can then access the Rational Engineering Lifecycle Manager queries which are reports in the Report Builder. Users who do not want to share the reports with the team can save the reports in the My Stuff folder, and ask the administrator to remove the imported shared reports.
