Before you begin
Create databases schemas for the applications that you plan
to install. You can use the database wizard provided with IBM Connections. Each IBM Connections application requires its own
database schemas, except Moderation, News, and Search. The Moderation
application does not have an associated database or content store,
while the News and Search applications share the Home page database.
The database wizard automates the process of creating database schemas
for the applications that you plan to install. It is a more reliable
method for creating databases because it validates the database schemas
as you create them. Connections on IBM i
only supports DB2® for IBM i with Metrics as an exception.
Since the Cognos® server required
by Metrics is not supported on IBM i,
you need to configure your Cognos server
on an AIX® partition, and you
should set up your Metrics database on the same AIX partition. You must create the following
new databases if you plan to use the associated application:
If you want to use IBM Connections
Content Manager on IBM i, you
need create the following two databases on AIX or Linux DB2 using the database scripts on
the installation media for Connections on IBM i: - Global Configuration Database
- Object Store
