Completing an attended installation of Control Desk Service Portal

Control Desk Service Portal provides a program that guides you through an attended installation of the portal in your local environment.

About this task

Before you complete this task, ensure that your environment meets the prerequisites for installation. For information about prerequisites, see Prerequisites for installing Control Desk Service Portal.

Make sure that you install IBM Node.js and that you add the node executable to your path (for example, /root/ibm/node/bin).

Note that Service Portal provides an uninstall utility, which is available in the directory where you install Service Portal. If you experience problems when you uninstall Service Portal, you can delete the Service Portal installation directory to remove the portal.

Complete the following steps to install Service Portal.

Procedure

  1. Start the Service Portal installer:

    ./serviceportal.bin

  2. In the initial installer window, select a language and click OK.
  3. In the Introduction window, review the introduction and click Next.
  4. In the License Agreement window, select the radio button to accept the terms and click Next.
  5. In the Choose Install Folder window, specify an installation folder and click Next.
  6. In the Configuration window, complete the following steps:
    1. Specify the URL for the classic IBM Control Desk installation.
    2. If you do not want to use the default port, specify a different port.
    3. If you do not want to use the default for the number of cluster members, specify a different number.
    4. Click Next.
  7. In the Preinstallation Summary window, review the installation parameters to verify their accuracy, and click Install.
  8. After the installation is complete, select the Start Service Portal check box to open Service Portal.
