common.properties file
The common.properties configuration file contains the parameters of InfoSphere® MDM Collaboration Server where you can define the core functions and appearance of the user interface.
Whenever your system is started, the common.properties file is read from the $TOP/etc/default directory to initialize each property. Because properties are loaded during startup, any changes to the common.properties file requires you to restart your system before your changes are applied.
Each property is made up of a parameter and parameter value. For
most parameters, a suggested default value is preset in the common.properties file.
With the common.properties file, you can modify
each parameter value based on performance recommendations or usage
preferences.
Important: For many of the system required
parameters, InfoSphere MDM Collaboration Server will
revert to a system default value that might differ from the value
you previously specified in the common.properties file
when a parameter value if found to be one of the following:
- Invalid
- Missing
- Incorrectly commented out
The following list defines each type of parameter value:
- Default value
- A suggested generic value that is preset in the common.properties file template that comes bundled with the product.
- User defined value
- A value that you defined, which replaces the default value in the common.properties file.
- Recommended value
- A recommended value for a parameter in the common.properties file that can be appropriate to your situation in regards to performance and function.
Note: Some parameters require you to set user defined values as a
pre-production step to optimize your configuration. Any changes to
the common.properties file requires you to restart
your system before the changes are applied.
