Application server performance checklist

Use this checklist to resolve common issues of the performance of your application server service.

These possible resolutions can help you identify the source of the performance problem that is occurring within the application server:
  • Make sure that the server where the application server is installed has the appropriate capacity to handle the load and is not shared with other systems.
  • Make sure that the server has the appropriate capacity for handle the load and is not shared with other systems.
  • Verify that the application server is connected to the database using a gigabit network.
  • Verify that the network card is set to gigabit full duplex and not on auto-negotiate.
  • Verify that the average ping time between the application server and the database is less 0.25 milliseconds.
  • Check the ulimit settings to make sure that the number of open file descriptors is 8000.
