Attaching files to a staging area

A staging area is similar to a distribution, for example, an FTP site or an email in which a single directory in the document store is set aside for any files sent using that distribution. Those files can then be accessed at will through a script or manually.

Procedure

  1. Click Data Model Manager > Staging Area.
  2. Click Create new Staging Area.
  3. Provide a name for your staging area in the Staging Area Name field. Your staging area displays in the Staging Area Console.

What to do next

After you create a report or export, your staging area is listed under the Destination column. It is listed under the Destination column because when you run the job, those files will be going to that staging area for later retrieval. When you create an export, report or anything else that uses a distribution, files are sent or placed in a directory. During the creation of an export or report, you can select where to put those files; a staging area is listed as an option. If you select to have those files sent to the staging area, after running the export or report you can access the files in the Document Store. The files are placed in the following directory {company name}/staging_area/{Name of staging area}/{files in the staging area}.
