Extending physical InfoSphere MDM capabilities with the InfoSphere MDM Workbench

The InfoSphere® MDM Workbench simplifies the construction and maintenance of customized physical InfoSphere MDM programming artifacts. You can use the InfoSphere MDM Workbench tools to customize your solution by developing additions, extensions, metadata specs, hierarchies, and more.

In the following diagrams, the example workflows show the high-level tasks for customizing the physical InfoSphere MDM Workbench capabilities and for setting up product hierarchies. Some tasks are iterative and are repeated until you achieve the results that you require. The diagrams are provided only as an example. Your team might use a different work flow. In addition, the diagrams imply that each task follows sequentially, whereas in reality tasks might be performed simultaneously.

Figure 1. Customizing physical MDM capabilities
The
graphic shows the tasks that can be performed for physical MDM. Create workspace. Create or import project. Create or import physical MDM model content. Validate model. Generate implementation code. Modify code (optional, custom). Regenerate implementation code. Finalize code in code control. Run SQL to customize the MDM database. Update or deploy CBA in MDM operational server. Validate customized function. Export CBA and SQL files. Deploy CBA to production server.
Figure 2. Creating specs and product types
The graphic shows the tasks that can be performed for physical
MDM. Create workspace and metadata project. Create specs. Create a product hierarchy. Validate. Finalize code in code control. Update or deploy CBA in MDM operational server. Validate function. Deploy spec and hierarchy to production server.
