Mapping InfoSphere MDM Server business objects to the InfoSphere MDM Probabilistic Matching Engine data model

The InfoSphere® MDM Probabilistic Matching Engine data model is defined to represent InfoSphere MDM Server business objects and their attributes. This data model represents an index of InfoSphere MDM Server business objects, optimized for matching using the InfoSphere MDM Probabilistic Matching Engine matching algorithm.

The tables provided in the following topics provide a detailed mapping between the InfoSphere MDM Server business objects and their attributes and the corresponding records, attributes (including attribute types) and fields in the InfoSphere MDM Probabilistic Matching Engine.

Important: In the mapping tables, pay special attention to the Indexed? column.

In the InfoSphere MDM Probabilistic Matching Engine, it is far more difficult to change the data model than it is to change the matching algorithm. Changing the data model requires a complete re-indexing of all the data in the InfoSphere MDM Probabilistic Matching Engine index tables. Changing the matching algorithm would not.

In addition, not all of the fields that can be used for comparison are used by every organization. Consequently, only the fields that are absolutely necessary for matching are included in the algorithm. Many of these fields are the same as those that are used by the MDM Classic Matching Engine.
