You can install WebSphere® Service
Registry and Repository Client interactively. This procedure assumes
that you are starting the installation process from the launchpad
application.
About this task
The launchpad application installs IBM® Installation
Manager (if it is not already installed) and WebSphere
Service Registry and Repository Client. The client is a collection of components that you can use to
write applications to work with a remote WSRR server. The client includes the Java™ application client, the command-line interface, the Java application programming interface (API) documentation, the Eclipse
plug-in archives, and the Bulk Loader utility.
Procedure
- If you already have IBM Installation
Manager installed, ensure that it is not running.
- Start the launchpad application (if you have not already
done so) either from the directory where you extracted the
WSRR image, or from the WSRR DVD:
- Run launchpad.sh.
- Run the launchpad with elevated Microsoft Windows user account privileges.
On 32-bit systems, right-click launchpad.exe and
select Run as administrator. On
64-bit systems, right-click launchpad64.exe and
select Run as administrator.
- In the left pane of the launchpad, click Custom
installation and then click Client
installation.
- Select Install as administrative user to
install the client as an administrative user that is a root
user on Linux or UNIX, or a member of the Administrator
group on Windows. If you
are installing as a non-administrative user, clear the check
box.
- Click Install to start IBM Installation Manager.
On the Install Packages page that
is displayed, the IBM WebSphere Service
Registry and Repository Client package is preselected for installation.
- Click Next.
- On the Licenses page, read through
the license agreement, and select I accept the
terms in the license agreement. Then, click
Next.
- Complete the Location page as follows:
- Accept the default selection of Create new
package group.
- Accept the default installation directory, or specify
a different directory.
- Indicate whether you are installing on a 32-bit or 64-bit
system.
- Click Next.
- On the Features page, accept the default
selections and click Next. The following features are available:

Client |
Installs the Java application client, the command-line
interface, and the Java API documentation. The WSRR API can
be used to develop Java applications that access WSRR at run time to find the most appropriate web
service to use.
Interactive and scripted administration of WSRR is possible with the
Jython-based command-line interface. The command-line interface provides full support for all the
WSRR programmatic APIs, including all administrative operations.

Eclipse plug-in |
Installs the WSRR Eclipse user interface, which is supplied as a plug-in, and which can be
used to access the objects in WSRR while working in an Eclipse-based development
environment. |
Reporting plug-in |
Installs the Eclipse reporting plug-in, which can be used to design reports of the contents
of your registry by using open source, Eclipse-based, Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools
(BIRT). |
Bulk Loader |
Installs the Bulk Loader utility, which can be used to populate
WSRR with existing web services information that is
stored in a spreadsheet. Restriction: This utility runs
on Linux or Windows only.

- On the Summary page, review the summary
information and then click Install to
begin the installation. A progress indicator shows the
percentage of the installation completed.
When the installation is complete, the status of the installation
and the list of packages that were successfully installed
is shown.
- Click Finish to close the Installation
Manager.
Results
WebSphere Service
Registry and Repository Client is installed.
The Bulk Loader
utility for importing services from a spreadsheet is installed
in the WSRR_client_install_dir/BulkLoadTool directory,
where WSRR_client_install_dir is the installation
location of WebSphere
Service Registry and Repository Client.
