Preparing to install the IBM Connections Mail Plug-in
Before you install the IBM® Connections Mail Plug-in, you must ensure that components are installed and that your environment is configured.
Before you begin
The following components must be installed and configured.
- IBM Connections 5.0 must be installed.
- In Connections, the federated repository must be set up as described in Setting up federated repositories.
- Profiles must be set up as described in Adding source data to the Profiles database.
- Your mail servers must be IBM Domino® 8.5.3 Fix Pack 6 or later, Exchange 2010 Service Pack 1, Exchange 2013, or a combination. For required Domino 8.5.3 Interim Fix numbers, see Detailed system requirements for the IBM Connections Mail Plug-in.
- For Domino mail servers
- The LDAP service must be running on the Domino server. For setup information, see Setting up the LDAP Service
- The Connections Mail Plug-in uses the messaging directory for address resolution as it is configured on Domino.
- For Exchange mail servers, the Exchange servers must be part of an Active Directory domain. The Connections Mail Plug-in uses the messaging directory for address resolution, as configured on Exchange.
- Single sign-on (SSO) environments must be set up:
- For Domino servers, although you can use SPNEGO or LTPA, it is better to use LTPA.
- For Exchange, you must use SPNEGO.
- If you use Tivoli® Access Manager or SiteMinder, ensure
that you use the following procedures: Enabling single sign-on for Tivoli Access Manager and Enabling single sign-on for SiteMinder. Note: If you previously enabled single sign-on for Tivoli Access Manager, you must re-configure. During step 15c of Enabling single sign-on for Tivoli Access Manager, add connectionsmail.interService.href to the list for application_interService_key.
The following configurations must be set and verified:
- The messaging infrastructure must share the SSO domain that the Connections infrastructure uses.
- Connections:
- All Connections Mail Plug-in users must have valid email addresses.
- Email addresses must be visible in Connections. If you configured Connections to hide email addresses, see this topic: Exposing email addresses
- For Domino servers:
- All user records must have a valid Internet email address that matches the email address in Connections.
- Domino must be set up for access by using iNotes®. For more information, see Setting up iNotes on a server.
- For Exchange servers:
- All user records must have a valid Internet email address that matches the email address in Connections.
- Internet Information Services Exchange Web Service must be enabled.
