You can use the Configuration Tool or the command line to back up the following:
The configuration settings for the directory server instance.
You can back up these settings for a proxy server or a full directory
server.
The data in the database, for a full directory server.
The data in the change log, for a full directory server with the
change log configured.

There are several ways to back up and restore directory
server instance information and data. See Appendix G. Backup and restore methods for
information that will help you decide how to back up and restore your
directory server instances.
