Installing WebSphere Application Server

IBM® Rational® Asset Manager requires a server application. If you do not already have one of the supported application servers installed, then you can install WebSphere® Application Server.

Procedure

To start an installation of the full WebSphere Application Server:

  1. From the Rational Asset Manager launchpad program, click Install IBM WebSphere Application Server. If you are installing from CD media, you might be prompted to insert the first WebSphere Application Server installation CD.
  2. Click the WebSphere Application Server Installation page or select the page that applies to your installation scenario.
  3. Read the installation guide and readme information that is available on this page or in the information center.
  4. Click Launch the installation wizard for WebSphere Application Server or, if you chose not to use the WebSphere Application Server Installation page, launch the installer that applies to your installation scenario.
  5. Follow the instructions in the wizard to complete the installation. For more information, see the installation instructions in the WebSphere Application Server Information Center.

What to do next

Click the Apply latest Fix Pack for WebSphere Application Server link in the Rational Asset Manager launchpad or go to http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27004980 in your web browser to download and install updates.

Enable application security on the WebSphere Application Server and then install the Rational Asset Manager server, specifying the details for the WebSphere Application Server during the Rational Asset Manager server installation.
