Policy rules

Policy rules are troubleshooting rules that are used for automatic analysis of system health and for proposing a relevant solution. These rules cover the most frequent issues that are experienced in the field.

You can view a complete list of rules in a PDF document that is located on your system in /nz/kit/share/nzhealthcheck/rules-doc.pdf.
Note: Rule evaluation depends on the platform, so not all rules may be evaluated on your system. The rules-doc.pdf document provides detailed information about which platforms are supported by particular rules.

All System Health Check rules provide problem description and advice. Some of them involve complex logic, for example, identifying the correct disk/SPU/enclosure balance. The rules may depend on one another.

All rules have severity assigned:
  • High - Actionable issues that might be critical.
  • Medium - Actionable issues.
  • Low - The rules may help in problem investigation but they do not require immediate action.
Rules have the following classification:
BOM/BOX
Rules verifying the existence of hardware components based on model.
DM
Rules examining disk health. These rules are based on the disk_monitor tool.
SHC
General-purpose rules.
INT
Internal rules. They verify that the heath check tool works properly, and that the device managers do not return errors. Problems reported through INT001 - One or more device manager failed might denote system problems and they need to be verified. The health check report containing such errors may not be complete as the tool is not able to verify all possible problems.
