Before you install Data Protection for Oracle,
ensure that your system meets the minimum hardware, software, and
operating system requirements.
The minimum hardware and software requirements
for the
Data Protection for Oracle release
are available in the hardware and software requirements technote for
each particular release. For current requirements, review the Hardware
and Software Requirements technote for your version of
Data Protection for Oracle.

Note: - You must uninstall any previous version of Data Protection for Oracle,
or the Tivoli® Storage
Manager API,
before you install a new or updated version.
- If you are installing a fix pack or interim fix
version of Data Protection for Oracle,
do not remove the license enablement file from the previous version.
The fix pack and interim fix drivers do not contain a license enablement
file.
- You cannot
install the 32-bit version of Data Protection for Oracle on
a 64-bit operating system.
- You must have administrative
authority to install Data Protection for Oracle on
a Windows server where the
target database is stored.
- If Data Protection for Oracle was
not previously installed on your system, you can install it to the Tivoli Storage
Manager base
directory. For best results, install all Tivoli Storage
Manager products
and components into the same base directory.
- The installation process does not overwrite the existing dsm.opt options
file, tdpo.opt configuration file, or log files.
