Managing instances

You can use the Instances page in IBM Cloud Manager - Self Service user interface to manage instances after they are created. You can specify the instances to view based on filters.

If the list of instances does not contain the instance that you want, ensure that the filters are set correctly. You can use the quick filter field to filter on any value found in the table.
Notes:
  • While the Instances table shows a single IP address only, if there are more IP addresses the field shows the first IP address followed by an ellipsis (...). You can use the quick filter field to filter on any of the IP addresses associated with the instance, even if it isn't displayed in the table.
  • If the approval policy for any action is enabled (for example, deleting an instance), then the user request is not fulfilled until the administrator approves it.
  • When you delete an instance, if the instance is not successfully deleted from the IBM Cloud Manager - Self Service, the instance status is changed to "No state". You might see this status if you delete an instance by using a method other than IBM Cloud Manager - Self Service, such as IBM Cloud Manager - Dashboard or OpenStack CLI command. You might also see this status if a launch fails.
  • Suspend and resume functions are not supported for PowerVM® instances.
  • For a PowerVC environment, if you use the PowerVC user interface to make changes, such as delete an instance, IBM Cloud Manager - Self Service might still show the instance as active. To refresh the status information after making out of band changes, restart IBM Cloud Manager - Self Service. If you resize an instance using the PowerVC interface, you must restart the instance to see the resized values in IBM Cloud Manager with OpenStack.
  • With IBM Power® Virtualization Center Standard Edition version 1.3, resizing a PowerVC instance from IBM Cloud Manager with OpenStack does not work as expected. To resize a PowerVC 1.3 instance, use the PowerVC API or the PowerVC graphical user interface.
