You can open a remote event list configuration file in
order to open one or more event lists that are located on a remote
server. The server must be accessible using HTTP or FTP.
About this task
To open a remote event list configuration file:
Procedure
- From the Event List monitor box window,
click . The Open Configuration window
opens.
- Complete this window as follows: In the File
name field, type a Web address for the remote file and
click OK. You must use one of the following
formats for the Web address:
http://servername[:port]/path/filename.elc
http://username:password@servername[:port]/path/filename.elc
ftp://servername[:port]/path/filename.elc
ftp://username:password@servername[:port]/path/filename.elc
The
optional port number :port needs to be specified
only if the server is not using the default port. For HTTP, a Web
server must be running on the remote host.
You can optionally specify an IPv4
or IPv6 address for the servername value. When
specifying an IPv6 address, enclose the address within brackets [];
for example:
http://[2003:13f8:206:190:204:baef:fe6a:6af0]:2880/mydir/myfile.elc
For
FTP, the path is the relative path from the home directory; for example, /mydir/myconfig.elc.
A
copy of the remote file is written to a local cache. On Windows systems, when you specify a remote
file that you have previously opened, the cached copy is used. If
the remote file cannot be retrieved, an error message is displayed.
Results
If the retrieval was successful, the
Event List monitor
box window refreshes to show the monitor boxes within that configuration,
and the selected configuration file name is displayed in the title
bar of the event list.
