Identify the part number of the probe

Before locating the probe package on the IBM Passport Advantage website, you must identify its part number. The easiest way to do this is by referring to its release notice.

Probes are released in the form of packages. On Netcool/OMNIbus V7.3.0, 7.3.1, or 7.4, one package is released for each operating system on which the probe is supported. On Netcool/OMNIbus V8.1, a single package containing all supported operating systems is released for each probe. A release notice is issued shortly before the release of each new and updated probe. This notice lists the part numbers for each of the probe packages.

To identify the part number for the package that corresponds to your operating system, use the following steps:
  1. Access the following page on the IBM support website:

    https://www.ibm.com/support/home

  2. Enter "release notice" and the name of the probe in the Search support support or find a product field.
  3. Click the spyglass icon.

The search engine returns a list of all documents that match your criteria.

  4. Select the appropriate Netcool/OMNIbus Integrations release notice.

For Netcool/OMNIbus V7.4, the release notice contains a table listing the operating systems on which the probe is supported.

The Release Notice also contains the part number of the Netcool/OMNIbus V8.1 package and a link to the IBM Passport Advantage website.

  5. Make a note of the part number of the appropriate version of the probe.
