A broken DEDB can be found by running DEDB Pointer Checker. In this case,
you can repair the broken DEDB area.
Procedure
To repair a broken DEDB area, do the following tasks:
- Create an image copy backup of the DEDB area.
- Run DEDB Pointer Checker on
the broken DEDB area.
- Obtain the CI Map/CI Dump report generated
by the FABADA1 and FABADA4 steps and the Pointer Chain Reconstruction
report generated by the FABADA4 step.
- Analyze the results. Verify the CI content and determine
the appropriate corrections.
- Repair the DEDB area. The IMS Database
Repair Facility provides a convenient tool for printing and changing
the contents of a CI without modifying the Format 1 DSCB in the VTOC.
- Create an image copy backup of the repaired DEDB area.
- Rerun DEDB Pointer Checker with
image copy input to verify database integrity.
