Resolving optimization exceptions for HDAM and PHDAM databases

Resolve the optimization exceptions that you received for your HDAM and PHDAM databases.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have completed the analysis steps for HDAM and PHDAM exceptions and that you have identified the possible causes of the database exceptions. If you have not yet analyzed the optimization exceptions, see Analyzing optimization exceptions for HDAM and PHDAM databases.

Procedure

If you receive optimization exceptions, you must collect more information about the database data sets to evaluate the requirements for the database definition, randomizer, randomizing parameters, and other factors.
If you determine that you must change these database resources, plan a database reorganization to apply the changes.
Tip: You can use the HD Tuning Aid utility of IMS HP Pointer Checker to simulate DBD changes and randomizer changes. By using this utility, you can determine the optimal randomizing parameters without making changes to the DBD definitions or the database.
