Starting the launchpad

About this task

To start the launchpad, complete the following steps:
  • If you are installing from the DVDs, complete these steps:
    1. Insert the Setup DVD into your DVD drive.
    2. For Linux Mount the DVD drive.
    3. If autorun is enabled on your computer, the launchpad program starts automatically. If the launchpad does not start automatically:
      • For Windows and Linux:
        1. Change to the root directory of the Setup disk.
        2. Start the Launchpad application:
          • For Windows: Run launchpad.exe.
            Important: If your operating system is Windows 7, then you must run launchpad.exe as administrator.
          • For Linux: Run launchpad.sh.
        3. In the Launchpad dialog-box, click Install IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere .
      • For OS X:
        1. From Finder, change the directory to InstallerImage_macosx_cocoa_x86_64/.
        2. Double click Install.app.
  • If you are installing from electronic disks downloaded from IBM® Passport Advantage®, open a command line and change to the directory where you extracted the disk images, and then do one of the following things:
    • For Windows and Linux:
      1. Start the Launchpad application:
        • For Windows: Run RAD_SETUP\launchpad.exe.
          Important: If your operating system is Windows 7, then you must run launchpad.exe as administrator.
        • For Linux: Run RAD_SETUP/launchpad.sh.
      2. In the Launchpad dialog-box, click Install IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Beta.
    • For OS X:
      1. From Finder, change the directory to RAD_SETUP/InstallerImage_macosx_cocoa_x86_64/.
      2. Double click Install.app.

Results

The launchpad program starts.
