    • For Linux: <directory path for .zip file extracted contents>/BuildUtility/disk1/InstallerImage_linux.
    • For Solaris: <directory path for .zip file extracted contents>/BuildUtility/disk1/InstallerImage_solaris.
  2. Run the program install.exe for Windows platforms or install for non-Windows platforms. IBM Installation Manager starts.

    • In the Shared Resources Directory field, type the directory path for installing shared resources, or accept the default path. Ensure that you do not include any spaces in the directory path. The shared resources directory contains resources that can be shared by one or more package groups.
Important: You can specify the shared resources directory only at the time that install Installation Manager. Use your largest disk for this directory to help ensure adequate space for the shared resources of future packages. You cannot change the directory location unless you uninstall all packages.
    • In the Installation Manager Directory field, type the path for the directory where you want to install Installation Manager, or accept the default path.
  6. In the Installation Directory field, type the path for the directory where you want to install the build utility, or accept the default directory path and click Next.
Note: You cannot install the build utility into the same installation directory as another product that was installed by Installation Manager. You must choose a new directory.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Click Next.
  9. On the Features page, optionally select to install runtime stub files for the supported WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Portal Server versions, and then click Next.
    Note:
    • The WebSphere Portal Server stub files require the corresponding version of the WebSphere Application Server stub files. Therefore, install both of these stubs to use WebSphere Portal Server.
    • If you want to use the build utility without any WebSphere Application Server or WebSphere Portal Server stub files, you need a local installation of a supported version of WebSphere Application Server or WebSphere Portal Server product.
  10. Confirm your installation summary information and then click Install. The installation process starts.
  11. Confirm that the installation is successful and click Finish to close Installation Manager.
